Foscarini Twiggy Grid - LED arc lamp for outdoors, height-adjustable The Twiggy Grid LED arc lamp - shown here as an outdoor light - was designed by industrial designer Marc Sadler for the Italian lighting label Foscarini with a visual and technical resemblance to a curved fishing rod. Visually, the Twiggy Grid is reminiscent of a fishing rod thanks to its thin arched frame made of glass fibre composite material. And in technical terms, it has also borrowed a lot from the fishing rod. The special choice of material makes the arc lamp extremely flexible. With the help of four counterweights, which can be placed in the recesses provided above the diffuser, the frame can be bent downwards, allowing the light to be adjusted in height. With its net-like lampshade, Twiggy Grid allows as much of the incident light as possible to reach the outside, illuminating a relatively large area. In 2017, Foscarini launched the weatherproof and weather-resistant Twiggy Grid version on the market, so that the popular arc lamp can now also shine on the patio at home or in outdoor hotel areas. It can be connected to the power supply either via a plug (IP44) or a fixed connection (IP65). Austrian-born designer Marc Sadler is based in the design capital of Milan. During the conceptualisation phase of Neu products, he takes a very close look at the materials he wants to use. During his studies, he specialised in experimenting with plastics and has remained true to this theme ever since.
