Unusual in form and material - Overlap S1 Overlap - a series of luminaires created for FLOS by London-based designer Michael Anastassiades. The Basis is formed by two steel rings that interlock at right angles. In his search for a way to join the ends of the two circles, he came across the material "Cocoon", a semi-transparent synthetic resin that is applied in powder form to the steel frame of the rings. The result of this process is a mysterious and very unusual shape - the Overlap S1 pendant light, which Anastassiades himself says looks as if the rings are trying to break through the outer shell again and again. Depending on the angle of view, the light appears new again and again and fascinates with its extremely skilful combination of shape, volume and special material.
