The bedside lamp - of course, who doesn't have it, the absolute classic in our four walls? But what to do when there's no room on the bedside table? Or is there simply no one left for it? Quite simply: opt for wall lamps. Namely: on wall lamps with fabric shade. Cosiness and homeliness** is what they give us. As well as atmospheric light to support general lighting and - with a reading arm - absolutely practical, direct light for reading in bed in the evening.
But the wall lamp with fabric shade is not only an absolute highlight in the bedroom. You can also create a radiant cosiness at eye level in hallways, living rooms and studies with these special lights.
Within your own four walls, of course. And if you want to be precise - and of course you do - wherever you want a cosy atmosphere, the best light to support the general lighting and a cool design at eye level. They are particularly popular in the corridor, for example. Or in the living room near or above the sofa. Or in the dining room.
And in the kitchen? No, I'd rather go for an alternative. Kitchen odours, grease and dirt do not give the new wall lamp a particularly charming look.
However, a very popular place for these lights is also: the bedroom. Simply trendy and yet timelessly elegant, cosy and yet absolutely practical - especially as an alternative to the classic bedside lamp.
But of course you can! And this is exactly the best choice you can currently make in terms of light sources. Because LEDs...
And the best thing is - yes, you may already have guessed it - LEDs are available as fixed LED boards in the luminaires and as light sources that can be screwed into the luminaire (so-called retrofits). And you alone have the choice! Better permanently installed or replaceable? Both are available - of course also in the wall lamps with fabric shade!
We press the light switch on the wall - the light comes on. We press the light switch again - the light goes out again. Naturally, this also applies to the wall lamps with fabric shade. But: There are also other ways to switch the light on and off. To be more precise: even 2! Firstly, they are also available with a switch directly on the light. Switch the light on - or off? Sure: Simply press the switch directly on the housing. No getting up and running to the light switch. No need to search for a light switch. Particularly convenient, of course, with wall lights that are mounted directly next to or above the bedside cabinet, for example - because: Who needs a "normal" bedside lamp** when you can save space with a practical wall lamp?
Speaking of practicality: wall lights with textile shades are often also equipped with an extra reading light. And, as you may have guessed, this can also be switched on and off very easily using a switch. Not with the same switch as the main light, of course. No! There is another one on the light.
And secondly, there are also wall lamps that have a switch directly on the plug lead. This means that these lamps can also be switched on and off using a switch. But not directly on the luminaire housing itself or via the normal "light switch" on the wall, but on the plug or cable. And thanks to the plug, you can place the light exactly where you want it - provided there is a socket outlet nearby!
In general? So that you avoid looking directly into the light source. Otherwise, glare is unfortunately pre-programmed. And that's not really the point - not even with wall lamps, of course. And in particular? It all depends on where you place the wall lamp with shade in your home. Perhaps in the hallway or in the living and dining room - as a supplement to the general lighting? Then it is recommended - with a light outlet upwards and downwards, for example - to install the whole thing in the upper third of the wall. That would be roughly at eye level. Advantage: You are not dazzled and the cool design of the luminaire is optimally emphasised. Astonished looks included.
If the wall lamp is intended for use near a sofa** or as a trendy replacement for a bedside lamp**, well, it doesn't really help much if you install it somewhere on the ceiling - that's logical, isn't it! Here, of course, it has to be brought quite a bit closer to the wall - but again, without dazzling. Ideally, the wall lamp should emit enough light for you, but not too close that you find it distracting or dazzling. But it depends entirely on your own taste, your sofa and bed.
White, beige, cream, grey or black - for the shade. Classic, elegant, timeless design - for the entire luminaire. This is and remains the textile wall lamp classic. And quite rightly so. Not only can you combine your new wall lamp with shade with every conceivable furnishing style**, but you also get beautiful, glare-free and cosy light. And we don't even need to talk about the cosiness and atmosphere that this lamp creates, do we?
Oh, classic-timeless is all well and good, you think to yourself. But you want ... a truly spectacular, luminous wall highlight - because you don't want your guests to stop marvelling in the hallway? Or are you more of a romantic type - even when it comes to your furnishings? Sure, no problem at all. Even then, wall lights with fabric shades are just right for you. So why not go for a real sailor feeling in the living room? For example with a wall lamp with a world map on the fabric shade. Or fully romantic with small roses and crystal elements? And of course we also have plenty of choice for real design lovers. FLOS or would you prefer a wall lamp from Knapstein?
No, of course not. You can also choose your textile wall lamp with several shades - i.e. multi-flame. How about 2 umbrellas, for example? Also looks great in the corridor or living room, for example. In other words, where the luminaire and its design emphasise the very personal living style - e.g. the classic style.
But we have to admit: The single-lamp version is and remains the classic wall lamp with shade. Especially in the bedroom. But it really looks too good. And is so practical, especially if it also offers a flexible reading arm. So: How many shades can your textile wall light have?
Yes, a wall lamp with a shade like this is really something nice. But how do I clean the whole thing, you ask? Put the fabric umbrellas in the dry cleaner or put them in the washing machine? And then at how many degrees? No, you should quickly forget about both - both cleaning and washing machines are taboo! It is much better - and also healthier for your luminaire - if you take a duster and wipe it thoroughly. Or even a microfibre cloth. But! The light must always be voltage-free beforehand. And once you have that, you can start waving!
