Spherical Moon designer pendant light made of aluminium slats - by Verner Panton One of the first lights designed by Verner Panton was the Moon pendant light, with which the design icon brought a completely new design style to life. Even with his furniture creations, Panton had set himself the goal of designing more than just furnishings. That which came from Verner Panton's pen always went beyond what was previously known. His creations were not only intended to complement the interior design, but to function as style-giving, space-occupying and central sculptures. The international enthusiasm that the Moon pendant light still enjoys today proves that Panton made a statement with his first luminaire design. Ten white lacquered aluminium slats, one inside the other, form the body of this cleverly designed pendant light. The lamellae, which increase in diameter from the Innes to the outside, are movable and can be rotated one on top of the other. The fascination of this pendant light, as with numerous other designs by Verner Panton, lies in the detail. Once in Form, the lamellae completely conceal the centrally positioned bulb, but reflect the incident light outwards through the gaps, creating an unprecedented, perfectly glare-free play of light that completely changes the atmosphere in the room. As the position of the individual lamellae is variable, the Moon pendant light allows for a variety of lighting designs. Like the Mond, which constantly changes its form in the night sky, Verner Panton's light is a multifaceted design object. The new edition of the Moon pendant light features a signature by Verner Panton on the innermost of the ten lamellae.
