Adjustable table lamp modular TYP 551 - classic light source in Bauhaus style, "Made in Germany" The engineer Curt Fischer (1890 - 1956) is considered the inventor of "steerable light" with his designs for lights with joints, scissor arms and rotating lampshades. The modular TYPE 551 table lamp from the 1930s embodies this concept in its purest form. It is a further development of models no. 113 and 114, which were used as light sources in the metal workshops of the Bauhaus. The then revolutionary design was subsequently taken up by numerous other designers and manufacturers and is still welcome today in almost any living room or on a desk thanks to its extremely versatile orientation. All components are still manufactured by midgard in Germany, with final assembly taking place in Hamburg. The structure consists of a round aluminium base, two steel arms and an aluminium lampshade in the shape of a truncated cone with a slightly slanted light outlet. There is also a black textile cable and three metal joints that allow the height, projection and alignment to be adjusted. It is operated using the rotary switch on the cap of the lampshade.
