PH 3 1/2-2 1/2 floor lamp – a designer piece with a fantastic light effect

The stylish PH 3 1/2-2 1/2 floor lamp is part of a light series designed by the Danish designer Poul Henningsen with a reflective three-lampshade system. The series began with this design of this special lampshade system in 1925/26 and expanded over the years to include 19 models with approximately 1,000 variations. The three-part lampshade directs the majority of the light downwards.

The three lampshade elements are made of high-quality, three-layered, hand-blown opal glass. The glass has a glossy exterior, while the interior is matt due to the sand-blasting effect, which in turn lends the emitted light a soft feel. The brass frame has an elegant finish, which gives the light a timeless overall appearance.

Poul Henningsen worked with the lighting company Louis Poulsen for several decades (from 1925 to his death in 1967). Their shared aim was to lend light form and to create lights that appeal to the senses whether switched on or off.
