Cirque designer hanging lamp – a successful interplay of shape and colour

The Cirque hanging lamp is a real eye-catcher whether switched on or off thanks to its special colour and shape configuration. It is partly owed to the stunning gradation of colour and partly to the shape, which has been inspired by the famous onion domes in Tivoli Gardens. The gradation of the individual colours relates to the perception of colours in circular motion, when they are often perceived as continuous lines.

The lampshade is made of extruded aluminium and has a white interior. This serves to perfectly reflect the soft light, which is then directed downwards without glare.

Cirque (or circus in English) has been designed by Clara von Zweigbergk. The designer was born in Stockholm and who, since completing her studies (in graphic design and illustration), has worked for advertising agencies and design studios in Stockholm, Los Angeles and Milan. She now owns her own graphic design studio and can thus combine her many fields of interest.

The Cirque range of lights by the designer, who has been crowned with the Wallpaper Design Award in 2012 and the 2012 Swedish Design Award, to name but two, was created together with the lighting company Louis Poulsen, which dedicates its work to the art of shaping light.
