AJ Oxford table lamp with screw fixing and shade made of opal glassThe AJ Oxford table lamp emits a pleasant downward light that harmoniously illuminates the underlying surface through three layers of mouth-blown opal glass. The milky glass creates a fascinating light glow around the lamp. AJ Oxford also has a slender rod made of metal that ends in the screw fixing. With its graphic style and monochrome colour palette, the timeless luminaire fits effortlessly into any home. For example, it can be attached to shelves or tables. With its slender, graphic expression, AJ Oxford reflects the architecture of St. Catherine's College in Oxford, for which the luminaire was originally designed. It was inaugurated in 1963 and designed by Arne Jacobsen in a modernist architectural style that contrasts with the classical architecture of the surrounding Oxford University. Originally, the AJ Oxford Table Lamp was designed as a permanently installed luminaire for the impressive dining hall of the college. Today, the lamp can still be found in St. Catherine's College, which continues to be used for teaching and as student accommodation.
