Designer table lamp AJ with swivelling head The AJ table lamp impresses with its clear, absolutely timeless design that harmonises with numerous living styles. The lampshade is a symbiosis of a cylindrical shape in the upper section and a conical shape in the lower section. It emits light directly; the swivelling head allows the light to be directed as required. The inside of the lampshade is painted white for optimum Reflexion. This achieves both efficient light control and a soft lighting mood with a pleasant character. The switch is integrated into the base of the lamp. The AJ Royal table lamp was originally designed in 1957 for the SAS Royal (Radisson) Hotel in Copenhagen. The designer, journalist, architect, author and critic Arn Jacobsen was commissioned with the overall design of the Hotel and also designed some of the elements of the furnishings. Some of the furniture and lighting series have become interior design classics, and with its combination of purism and functionalism, AJ is a prime example of the concept of the Danish manufacturer Louis Poulsen, a lighting company founded in 1874 and known for the simple and appealing design of its products.
