Whether or not the name of this light is meaningful depends entirely on the interpretation of the beholder. If you read Ceraunavolta separately, the result is “C’era una volta”, the Italian equivalent to the English “Once upon a time. Whether the fairytale appearance of the light or the magical mood that it creates played the decisive role in the creation of its name remains the secret of the designer duo Matteo Ugolini and Edmondo Testaguzza, who are responsible for the design of Ceraunavolta.

The transparent, colourless lampshade of the hanging lamp has a bulbous shape and linear grooves. For protection from glare and for a better light distribution, the light bulb is surrounded by a small satin-finished glass cylinder.

The production of the lights locally in Italy is an important aspect for the designer lighting manufacturer Karman. Production by hand plays a major role here, especially in the production of the glass bodies, which are all handblown. In such a production process, old craft techniques are passed on, on the one hand, and charming individual pieces are created, on the other hand.
