Design floor lamp Gräshoppa with adjustable head - a design icon by Greta Magnusson Grossman

The floor lamp Gräshoppa gets a lively touch by the slightly backward tilted three-legged frame, which makes it a trendy furnishing accessory for many living areas. Its luminaire head is conically shaped and can be adjusted in alignment, so that the direction of light can be adapted to individual needs. Gräshoppa is conveniently switched on and off via the foot switch integrated in the supply cable. The design was created by the Swedish design pioneer Greta Magnusson Grossman and was first introduced in 1947.

Greta Magnusson Grossman (1906-1999) studied at the renowned Stockholm art school Konstfack and opened her own studio in 1933 - a combination of shop and workshop. After marrying the jazz musician Billy Grossman, she moved to California in 1940, opened a shop on the famous Rodeo Drive in Los Angeles and was one of the first to bring the modern Scandinavian style to North America. Prominent artists of that time like Joan Fontaine, Greta Garbo, Frank Sinatra and Ingrid Bergman were among her clients.

The Danish brand manufacturer Gubi is a leader in design and interior decoration: Founded in 1967 by Lisbeth and Gubi Olsen, the company operates worldwide and produces high-quality designer furniture and lighting.
