Floor lamp G-10 - a light object in timeless design

The unusual name G-10 for this floor lamp comes from the fact that the lamp, which was launched in 1950, was the tenth design by designer Greta Magnusson Grossman for the Swedish manufacturer Bergboms. Today, the G-10 floor lamp is manufactured by the Danish furniture and lighting manufacturer Gubi, whose product range stands for sophisticated design in flawless quality.

G-10 consists of a classic round base, from which - with a slight inclination to the rear - a slim brass frame bar rises. The strikingly shaped metal shade with a matt black textured finish is attached to it and is fitted with an opal satinised lamp glass that provides a pleasant lighting effect.

Greta Magnusson Grossman (1906 - 1999) was one of the first to bring the modern Scandinavian style to North America. After her studies at the Konstfack Art School in Stockholm, she opened her own studio in 1933. In 1940 she moved to California with her husband - the American jazz musician Billy Grossman. On the legendary Rodeo Drive in Los Angeles, she opened a shop that was also popular with prominent artists such as Greta Garbo, Ingrid Bergman and Frank Sinatra.
