Hanging light Futura with handblown Murano glass - made in Italy

The Futura hanging light, which comes from the tradition-rich glass works in Venice, has a simple yet sophisticated design. The one-piece glass body is handblown. The two-coloured finish - transparent at the top and opal at the bottom - is made via a specific glass blowing process, which makes it possible to have a one-piece glass body that is two different colours. The division of this glass lampshade is emphasised by a metal ring which is placed in the middle of the glass.

The Futura model was developed from a design by the Hangar Design Group for the redesign of lighting in the cafeteria of the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice. Peggy Guggenheim is one of the greatest art collectors of the 20th century. Her last residence, the Palazzo Venier dei Leoni in Venice, now houses her art collection and is open to the public as a museum. Guggenheim was always excited by round shapes. The light series Futura reflects this fondness and presents it in a simple yet sophisticated way.

- With handblown, multi-layered glass
