New life for old PET bottles: Fractal Bowl pendant lamp made from recycled material
The transparent shade of the Fractal Bowl pendant lamp with its pretty diffuser pattern not only creates a beautiful light pattern when the light is switched on, it is also an example of how sustainable production of everyday objects can work. The German company Tagwerk manufactures lights using 3D printing processes and materials that are composed of industrial waste or old PET bottles, for example. The shade of the Fractal Bowl is made of PETG, a material made from these bottles. The final product is durable and resistant like other known materials: wipeable, heat-resistant up to 80 degrees and UV-resistant.
The materials Tagwerk uses are free of toxic substances and are processed in the 3D printer without generating waste. Emission-free and with green electricity, the makers of Tagwerk produce consumer goods in this way 100% sustainable.
