Foscarini Birdie grande - LED table lamp made of translucent polycarbonate, with touch dimmer The Birdie LED table lamp was created by the Milan-based designer duo Ludovica + Roberto Palomba, who are known for their high-quality products and designs. Based on the classic form of a timeless table lamp, the Duo created the Birdie table lamp for the Italian brand Foscarini in 2011. However, Birdie differs from other table lamps of its kind not only in its skilful choice of translucent material, but also in the eye-catching placement of a cross strut at the base of the light, which explains how Birdie got its name. The slightly slanted rod, which houses the switch and touch dimmer, looks like the branch of a tree on which a bird could easily perch. The translucent polycarbonate from which the lampshade is made creates a diffuse light that not only spreads directly downwards, but also upwards and through the shade into the surroundings without any contours. The lampshade is perfectly complemented by the lacquered metal base in the same colour. Birdie guarantees even more cosiness thanks to the integrated dimmer, which allows the brightness to be gradually adjusted.
