Poppy - a designer floor lamp with wondrous petalsThe arms of Poppy, this extraordinary designer floor lamp, seem to bend and turn in all directions. One points downwards, the other upwards and the third turns sideways to the back. They can cross each other or move far away from each other and almost seem to have a life of their own. But exactly this effect is intended by the designers of this floor lamp. Poppy was designed to offer the greatest possible flexibility and is therefore equipped with three flexible flex arms instead of a rigid frame, which can be turned in any direction. Because the textile-covered lamp arms and the metal base are black, they seem to literally burst out of the base of the lamp. However, the really special thing about this lamp is not the flexible arms, which are more often found on table or floor lamps, but the flower-like shades. The bodies of the filigree blossoms are formed by hand-blown spheres of black-violet glass, which also house the three light sources. When their light is switched on, the special glass structure comes to the fore and the violet shines discreetly through. And something very interesting happens: the petals open as if by themselves! There is no magic involved here, but a physical process moves the flower to unfold. The petals, made of bimetal, react to the heat of the bulb and slowly expand. An effect that manages to copy a natural spectacle by using what is actually the simplest technology and combining it with light in such an intelligent way that an unprecedented lighting object is created: Poppy!
