Small, classic and compact Another highlight from the series of Tolomeo lights from Artemide: the Tolomeo Micro table lamp is the more compact and smaller version of the classic desk lamp. Thanks to its space-saving dimensions, it fits on any desk or side table, no matter how small. The height of the desk lamp in its normal working position is 37 cm and the depth is 45 cm. The Tolomeo Micro also impresses with the same attributes as its big brother: the flexible joints allow the lampshade to be individually adjusted, providing precise illumination as required. The Tolomeo table lamp has been awarded various international design prizes, including the "Compasso d'Oro" (1989) and the "Observeur du design" (2001). The designer and architect Michele de Lucchi developed the Tolomeo Micro lamp series over 30 years ago together with the architect Giancarlo Fassina. A mechanism that en Lucchi had seen among fishermen in Puglia served as inspiration for the later form of the desk lamp, which he initially wanted to create for his own workplace. The founder of Artemide, Ernesto Gismondi, was immediately enthusiastic about the designs, but the first prototypes did not work. It was only with the intervention of Giancarlo Fassinas that this was remedied and the Tolomeo was launched on the market.
