Designer pendant lamp Tatsuno-Otoshigo from the series in-ei - folded structure
The Tatsuno-Otoshigo pendant lamp is an artistic lamp whose design can be traced back to the Miyake Design Studio. Issey Miyake and his research and development team created the luminaire in 2010 as part of a project developed using a computer program based on 3D geometry and mathematics. the Japanese term "in-ei" for shadow, shading or richness of shadow alludes to the lighting effect of the luminaire series, which is characterised by the sections of the structure that are illuminated to varying degrees. The Tatsuno-Otoshigo pendant luminaire was created in collaboration with Artemide, a symbiosis of technical lighting expertise and an innovative approach to materials and design.
The sculptural shape, created using Miyake's unique folding technique, is given optimal and perfect dimensional stability by the special technique and an additional surface treatment, without the need for an additional frame. Even a flat folding of the umbrella for space-saving storage when not in use and a restoration of the original shape is possible.
