Colour painted floor lamp Decomposé – a highlight of modern design art

Wherever this floor lamp is placed, whether it is near a sitting area in the living room or as an inviting light source in the hall, Decomposé is an eye-catcher when it is turned off and when it is turned on. This is partly due to its unusual shape. A simple aluminium tube has been cut into rings at the top in such away that they look like a roll of streamers unravelling. This is reflected in the name Decomposé. Decomposé comes from the French and means “decomposed”.

When the light is turned on, a very effective lighting mood is created with the formation of shadows in the surrounding area.

Decomposé - a designer piece from Atelier Oï in Switzerland - is produced by the Italian lighting manufacturer Artemide.

Atelier Oï was founded in 1991 by Armand Louis, Patrick Reymond and Aurel Aebi. They approach their work in a very experimental manner, following the motto “form follows material”, as it is the material for their work which arouses their initial interest, and the designs then develop from this.
