Sustainable lamps
Environmentally friendly lighting ideas with flairTaking the environment into account when buying lights and opting for sustainable products - this is becoming increasingly important for interior fans alongside design, form and function. But what constitutes sustainable lighting? From the use of energy-saving LED technology to the use of recycled materials such as plastic and glass or renewable raw materials such as wood and bamboo, the aspects are diverse. Another topic: quality through high-quality materials and sustainable processing, which guarantees a long service life for the lights. In addition, many luminaire manufacturers pay attention to short transport routes and the possibility of repairing a luminaire in favour of the environment. Recycled materials are an issue when it comes to packaging.

Think Paper
Think Paper is a lighting manufacturer based in the Netherlands that thinks sustainably across the board: for the characteristic lamps, cardboard strips (made from wood from responsibly managed forests) are assembled by hand to form lampshades. Depending on your taste, you can create different bulbous and always equally cosy-looking lights. Only adhesive that is 100 per cent biodegradable is used for processing.

LZF Lamps
LZF Lamps uses FSC-certified wood for its production in Chiva near Valencia, Spain. When it comes to lighting, the company uses permanently installed, energy-saving LED technology. Repairs to the lights can be carried out at the factory in Spain, which relies on traditional craftsmanship, but also by local craftsmen to avoid unnecessary transport. GoFurnit
GoFurnit relies on "Made in Germany" craftsmanship in the production of creative lighting designs. The young Cologne-based brand uses wood veneer from FSC-certified production for its warm and atmospheric lampshades. The designs are recognisable thanks to the boldly curved arrangement of the wafer-thin wooden strips. True to the motto "Zero Waste", the sustainable luminaire manufacturer produces fruit bowls from leftover wood. Ecological aspects also play an important role when it comes to packaging and transport.

Domus
All Domus lights are manufactured in our own factory in Bad Münder in Germany - predominantly from renewable raw materials, in particular wood from controlled cultivation areas. All luminaires can be operated with LED technology or are already equipped with it. Customised cardboard packaging made from recycled cardboard and filling material made from crumpled recycled paper are used for shipping. All lights can be repaired years after the end of production in the company's own factory, where manual labour is a top priority.

HerzBlut
All HerzBlut lights are manufactured in our own factory in Sauerland, Germany. This involves the use of materials made from renewable raw materials from FSC-certified suppliers in combination with the use of energy-saving lighting. HerzBlut uses environmentally friendly, largely plastic-free packaging for shipping. And if a light breaks, it can be repaired at the factory. Because traditional craftsmanship is very important there - even second-hand wood is used for some lights.

Sustainable lighting starts with energy-efficient light bulbs
)
The technology of choice when it comes to sustainability, efficiency and saving electricity costs is LED. Whether as replaceable light sources or permanently installed - sustainable light sources are the must-have for an environmentally conscious future. The best thing is that permanently installed LED technology is not only sustainably energy-saving, but also opens up completely new possibilities for filigree, slimline lighting designs.
)
When it comes to maximising energy efficiency, there is no way around modern LED technology. It is far more environmentally friendly than energy-saving lamps (10 % saving), halogen lamps (60 % saving) and the well-known incandescent lamp (90 % saving). The latest generation of LED light sources, which are assigned to energy efficiency class A, save even more on consumption. Details can be found in this light bulb guide.
