As electricity and water come together in the bathroom, special precautions must be taken: For example, the installation of lights in the shower and bath area is divided into three protection zones by special standards.
Standards for light around the shower & bath

According to DIN VDE 0100-701:2008-10, at least IP44, IP65 or IP67 is required for lights in and around showers and baths, depending on the protection area.
For protection zone 0 within the shower and bathtub, only lights with at least protection class IP67 may be used.
Protection zone 1 covers everything above this up to a height of 2.25 m - protection class IP65 is required here. Lights in both areas may only be operated with a safety extra-low voltage of up to 12 volts. IP44 protection is provided within a radius of 60 cm around the shower and bath. The power source and transformer for 12-volt systems must be located outside all three areas.

In addition to classic ceiling lights, spotlights that can be flexibly aligned are also suitable for brightly illuminating every corner of the bathroom.
