The clearly labelled task of a moisture-proof luminaire: moisture-resistant lighting e.g. for the laundry room. Depending on the degree of protection and the nature of the housing, moisture-proof luminaires are very insensitive and robust. This makes them interesting not only for private but also for commercial use.
Moisture-proof luminaires are surface-mounted diffuser luminaires and consist of a diffuser made of plastic that encloses and protects the light source and the socket.
Moisture-proof luminaires with at least protection class IP 65 are usually used, which means they are dust-tight and protected against water jets. There are various types of plastic for the housing of surface-mounted diffuser lights, which differ in terms of hardness and therefore impact resistance.
The laundry room, for example, requires a lower impact resistance but a high resistance to moisture. Vandal-proof variants are generally used in multi-storey car parks. Diffuser lights with explosion protection are also used in factory halls.
In keeping with the elongated shape of the moisture-proof luminaire, fluorescent lamps were and are still used today. A real alternative, however, is LED: either as a replacement for a conventional discharge lamp or as a permanently installed LED board.
LED lighting technology has a higher luminous efficacy, i.e. it generates more brightness from fewer watts. As a result, LED moisture-proof luminaires save energy and costs. In addition, they are immediately 100 % bright - the biggest advantage for many users compared to classic, flickering starters.
Moisture-proof luminaires are available in various sizes, e.g. 60, 120, 150 or 180 cm. In addition to models for mounting on the ceiling or wall, there are also models that are attached like a pendant light.
While a commercial application is usually preceded by precise lighting planning, in a private setting for a laundry room or hobby room, for example, you simply select the appropriate size and have the installation professionally carried out by a specialist electrician.
Linear luminaires are a special form of diffuser light. They offer the possibility of evenly illuminating an area of any length. Linear luminaires have convenient plug-in connections that connect the individual luminaires together like a strip light.
