The recessed light was, for a long time, irreplaceable for commercial premises with conventional fluorescent lamps. The LED panel, however, provides optimum lighting conditions for the demanding office spaces, has an overall more aesthetic light image and also helps companies to save energy and therefore costs. Therefore, lighting with LED panels is not just a financially interesting option, but also provides a positive reputation thanks to the use of the latest lighting technologies for the good of our environment. LEDs are favourable especially compared to fluorescent bulbs used in other recessed lights. Their energy efficiency is unsurpassed. By switching over to LED panels, it is possible to save up to 50% energy. Lower CO2 emission and lower waste generation thanks to a longer lifetime also come with LED products as standard.
Offices define the lighting required on the basis of the visual tasks carried out there. Working with architectural plans, for example, is more demanding for the eyes than photocopying. Generally, multiple visual tasks are managed within an office, so the lighting must be adapted to suit different requirements. So that employees can work for a long time without damaging their eyes or suffering high fatigue due to poor lighting, lighting conditions in the office are legally regulated by the government. The strength of lighting in the office as well as the avoidance of glare and reflections, reduction of shadows and a uniform lighting quality are standardised according to DIN EN 12464-1. Typical office lighting consists, on the one hand, of general lighting and, on the other hand, of illumination of the individual workspaces. While the latter is fulfilled by desk lamps and floor lamps, the LED panel or several recessed luminaires of this type can provide general lighting. Even distribution and attention to the basic brightness needed in each room is important here. In principle, we can say that LED panels are suitable for any office, as long as you have the option of installing this integrative lighting system into the ceiling of the office. As an alternative to using the products as insert panels for modular ceilings and grid ceilings, many of the products can also be used as pendant luminaires - with all the advantages of these products.
The lampshade of an LED panel is a cover plate, often opal-white and made of plastic. This special lampshade is called the diffuser. This fulfils a necessary condition for the office area: It ensures that the light sources are concealed, but in such a way that light transmission is still possible. The object is to avoid glare caused by looking directly at the bulb, so that people can work at industrial or manual labour premises and of course in the office without distracting stimuli.
The usual recessed lights, covered with a lampshade, all suffer from the same problem that you are never able to hide the type of light bulb used. Fluorescent bulbs illuminate lengthways and light points illuminate as points. These two types of light can be recognised by the regular, translucent diffuser of the lights: They shine through and cast an uneven light pattern on the lampshade, with dark corners, dimly lit grooves and similar irregularities. A high-quality LED panel, on the other hand, uses LEDs that are evenly distributed within the construction and often cast a particularly uniform light pattern on the lampshade thanks to special technologies such as "edge lighting" from OSRAM. The shape of fluorescent bulbs didn't just define the light pattern of regular recessed lights, but the installation depth had to be geared towards the light bulbs and is therefore much greater in fluorescent bulbs and other conventional light solutions than in compact LEDs. LEDs make it possible to design insert panels that are ultraslim, i.e. particularly flat. That is, a space-saving light solution with visually flawless light distribution on the lampshade.
Replacing used-up bulbs is a regular occurrence in many offices with conventional lighting solutions. In the dark autumn and winter months, the lifetime of the bulb is consumed quicker due to longer operational times. The high-quality LED panel, on the other hand, has an operational time of up to 50,000 hours. This makes maintenance largely superfluous. There is no large expense in terms of time and cost for exchanging regularly failing bulbs, which in turn affects the profitability of the whole company.
In addition to the advantages mentioned above, LED inlay lights in a conference room simply make an impression. Anyone who offers their business partners, new applicants or guests from the world of politics and other business sectors a brightly lit room for their first or follow-up visit, which is also characterised by the fact that its lighting can hardly be surpassed in terms of aesthetics, has already won. The modern, linear and trendy slim design, familiar from smartphones, tablet PCs and the latest Made in Germany quality LED lights from the Lights.co.ukbrand, as well as the completely homogeneous illumination of the diffuser disc ensures a flawlessly elegant product that you can look up to without being dazzled. The solid fusion of ceiling and light is trend-setting and proves its worth better in an office than anywhere else.
