Do you want your patio to be cosy? Then you need cosy lighting - just like in the living room. So preferably warm white light that tends towards reddish. Electricity and water do not go together. Unless your patio light has an appropriate protection rating, which tells you whether you can leave your light in the rain or even sink it in the pond. Depending on where you place your light, a different type of protection is appropriate. Protected under the roof, a light is less likely to get wet than unprotected outdoors.
Protection class IP44 (protection against splash water) is sufficient for an outdoor wall light. A floor recessed light in the pavement in the open air should already have an IP67 protection rating and thus be equipped for water jets and temporary submersion.
