Solar light chains receive the most energy in summer, but even at this time of year there can sometimes be heavy rainfall. For this reason, solar light chains must be protected from rain and foreign objects such as small insects. This is expressed by the IP protection class. While indoor fairy lights have no restrictions, outdoor fairy lights must have at least IP44.
In addition to protecting the electronics, most solar light chains are also made of weatherproof material. Solar lanterns, for example, are usually made of plastic.
The length of the solar light chain should also be taken into account when purchasing. Nothing is more annoying than realising that the chain supplied is too short for the balcony railing. Information on length can be found in the item details in our shop.
Solar fairy lights work with solar energy. The integrated battery is charged by a solar panel (included in the scope of delivery) using the photovoltaic process. Most solar light chains are also equipped with a twilight sensor. This ensures that the light only switches on when darkness falls.
The individual light sources of the solar light chain are connected via a single cable. At the end of the cable is the solar panel, which supplies the entire chain with energy.
With most solar light chains, the solar panel can be positioned independently of the chain. Orientation to the south and thus to the sunniest direction is therefore easy.
Like all solar lights, solar light chains offer a number of advantages over battery-powered or wired lights. The advantages are
