What is a T5 G5 fluorescent tube?
The T5 G5 fluorescent lamp is a low-pressure gas discharge lamp with very good luminous efficacy and energy efficiency. Some standard wattages are 14W, 21W, 28W, 35W, 49W, 54W or 80W.
The T5 G5 fluorescent tube has a standardised tube diameter of 5/8 inch, i.e. 16 mm and a standardised lamp base with a pin spacing of 5 mm at both ends of the straight design.
Operation is only possible with an electronic ballast.
Where are T5 G5 fluorescent tubes used?
T5 G5 fluorescent tubes are known, for example, as a light source for illuminated advertising systems, i.e. illuminated advertising. They are easy to replace, which drastically simplifies maintenance. They are also frequently used in warehouses, sports halls and supermarkets.
In the private sector, bathroom lights, but also many designer lights, picture lights and minimalist pendant lights very often use this light source.
Please note: Due to the wide range of applications, the T5 G5 fluorescent tube is available in many different lengths. We always specify the right light source for a luminaire in the shop. If, on the other hand, you are looking for a replacement light source, pay attention not only to the brightness in lumens and the colour temperature in Kelvin, but also to the appropriate length.

Are there LED alternatives to the T5 G5 fluorescent lamp?
There are also high-quality LED alternatives for the T5 G5 fluorescent lamp. These have even higher energy efficiency and a longer service life.
If a T5 G5 fluorescent lamp is to be replaced, it must be taken to a hazardous waste collection centre due to its mercury content and must not be disposed of with household waste.
What is the difference between a T8 and a T5 fluorescent tube?
The difference lies in the diameter of the base: A T5 fluorescent lamp has a diameter of 16 mm, a T8 fluorescent tube has a diameter of 26 mm. The length, electrical output, light colour and brightness of the tubes also vary regardless of the base.
