Filament lamps - like the light bulb, only better

You just can't forget them? You don't have to. With modern filament light sources, it's as if the good old light bulb were still there. Only with many benefits that you didn't have before. And these are precisely the advantages that modern LED technology has to offer: a long service life, high switching stability, low energy consumption and flexibility in terms of light colour.

Tip: They are nostalgic either way. To create an even cosier atmosphere with filament lamps, warm colour temperatures from 1800 Kelvin are particularly suitable. Simply try it out and enjoy

What exactly are filament lamps?

It's actually quite simple. Take an old light bulb and insert rod-shaped LED elements. The filament lamp is ready. Filaments are threads - in this case LED filaments.

**No problem: conventional LED lamps have a matt bulb and a grey heat sink at the bottom. LED filament lamps instead have tiny LEDs that are connected to form elongated filaments. The heat is transferred to the piston via the filling gas. This is why they do not require a heat sink.

Do filament light sources fit in every luminaire?

This depends on what kind of socket your light has. You can filter by "frames" in the shop. E27, E14, G9 and many other standardised bases are available. You can see the dimensions of the entire lamp in the product details under "Length" and "Diameter". Because not every filament lamp is the same length and width. So check beforehand whether it fits into your luminaire.

Can LED filament lamps be dimmed?

Depending on the mood and situation, a different light intensity is suitable. This rightly raises the question of whether you can also dim your filament lamp. If the light source is labelled as dimmable on the packaging, then there are no restrictions. The exact specification of the appropriate dimmer is also noted on the packaging. Or of course in the shop under technical data.

Colour rendering

What colour rendering should it be?

You eat with your eyes. And how delicious your food looks is also decisively influenced by the light. The colour rendering index describes how natural it appears. Of course, this is not only important for the fillet of beef, but also for the blouse. If it suddenly looks completely different outside than in the shop, the colour rendering value was certainly not the highest. Information on colour rendering can be found on the packaging of the light source or - in our shop - in the technical data. For incandescent lamps you can find this out under "Ra", for LEDs under "CRI". This stands for Colour Rendering Index. From a value of > 90, you are doing well in terms of natural appearance.
