G4 and GU4 lamps are low-voltage lamps with pin bases. The compact versions are used in some floor and table lamps as well as in wall and pendant lights. The bases are often combined with an MR11 reflector. They are then usually found in recessed spotlights and spotlights.
Low-voltage light sources with the G4 and GU4 bases are often confused. Both lamps have a pin spacing of 4 mm. However, the difference concerns the diameter of the pins: At Ø 0.95 to 1.05 mm, the GU4 pin is slightly thicker than the G4 pin with Ø 0.65 to 0.75 mm.
In contrast to the halogen versions, not all LED light sources are dimmable. When purchasing, look out for dimmable G4/GU4 LED lamps.
