Beautiful memories in focus - picture lights make it possible

A day with the family by the sea with a picnic in a beach chair. The safari in Africa and the first giraffe you have ever seen in the wild. Your child's school enrolment or your own wedding. These are all moments that you would like to hold on to forever. Photography brings us one step closer to this dream. Picture lights gently emphasise the staging of such emotionally charged snapshots on the wall with the right light. They focus atmospherically on the happy moment and emphasise very personal accents in your living spaces.

How are picture lights installed?

In principle, just like normal ceiling or wall lights. The first step should always be to Remove the fuse - for your safety! After you have loosened the screws on the lustre terminal, connect the wires. Then fix the picture light to the wall with the appropriate screws and screw the fuse back in. Tip: The picture light should be positioned in the centre a few centimetres above the painting or family photo. This is the only way to present your piece of jewellery perfectly. For large pictures it may be necessary to install several picture lights. You should also bear this in mind: If glass is involved, it should definitely be anti-reflective so that no unwanted reflections occur when you switch on the picture light.

What lighting technology is behind it?

Picture lights work - you guessed it - in the vast majority of cases with LED. Because LED offers many advantages. LED picture lights have one particular advantage: modern lighting technology enables a compact design. This allows the luminaires to be kept nice and slim and blend into the background. To give the object they are supposed to showcase its star appearance.

Advantages of LED light sources at a glance:

  • They consume 80-90 % less energy than incandescent lamps
  • They have a 50 times longer service life than incandescent lamps
  • They are very durable - no filament that can burn out
  • They provide immediately 100 % light when switched on
  • They last up to 50,000 hours

What materials are picture lights available in?

Would you like to match your picture light to the painting it is to illuminate? That makes sense, of course. Depending on the photo or style of the artwork, a different material may be suitable. What colours are picture lights available in?

It is also worth matching the colour of the picture light to the motif. Tone-on-tone or bold contrast - anything is possible. You can find out what is available by using the "Colour " filter in the shop. Here you can choose between black, white and grey or chrome, bronze and wood, to name but a few.

What styles of picture lights are available?

They themselves fade into the background. And that just to give the picture the best stage to shine. That's why picture lights are rather simple. You should not expect unusual styles. But there are a few. Simply select the "Style " filter and choose between antique, design and modern.

What special features are available for picture lights?

It should be able to do more than simply illuminate a picture? Even if their name promises nothing more, there are models that can do more:

  • Can be dimmed Simply check the product details to see whether a dimming function is specified. Then nothing stands in the way of cosy accent lighting.
  • Work wirelessly Admittedly, they are rather rare, but they do exist: picture lights with battery. You can find out more in the article description.
