Children's room table lamps

Children's room table lamp from Niermann

The faithful buddy for painting, reading and doing homework

If your nose hangs close to the paper when you're doing your homework, a ceiling light alone doesn't stand a chance. A children's room table lamp is a must! And a good bedside lamp should be placed on the bedside table to provide sufficient light for reading in bed and for orientation at night anyway.

How bright should the children's room table lamp be?

It's hard for adults to believe, but girls and boys are eager to do their first homework! And as soon as the children's room table lamp is not just a pretty decoration, but is also to be used practically, the brightness plays a role. It should be at least 400-500 lumens.

What light colour is recommended for table lamps in children's rooms?

This depends on where the table lamp is used in the children's room. If it stands by the bed and provides beautiful light in the evening, a cosy, warm white light colour (less than 3,300 Kelvin) is advisable for relaxing.

At the desk, on the other hand, you can concentrate on your work. The optimum light colour for this is universal white (between 3,300 and 5,300 Kelvin). They are also used in the office, for example. You will find information on the light colour in the article details.

Please note that some table lamps are supplied without bulbs. With these, you can simply order the matching light source with a warm white colour temperature.

Which light sources are suitable for children's room table lamps?

For more safety with regard to the children's room table lamp, make sure that you do not use glass light sources, but break-proof light sources made of plastic. You should also avoid energy-saving light bulbs as they contain mercury.

The right choice for the light source is LED technology, which is not only particularly long-lasting and switch-proof, but with which you also save up to 90 % electricity compared to conventional light bulbs.

Also ensure that LED lamps provide warm white, cosy light of less than 3,300 Kelvin colour temperature and adequate brightness. Light sources with a brightness of 400 lumens or more are common for table lamps. For decorative purposes, light sources with fewer lumens can also be used.

Why is a good bedside lamp in the children's room so important?

Finding your bearings at night, reading something or simply dozing off in cosy light: A bedside lamp fulfils many important tasks in the children's room.

The light should be glare-free, which is usually provided by a colourful shade. And a special tip: Touchdimmer. Instead of looking for the light switch, you simply touch your table lamp and it lights up. You'll never want to do without it again!
