Cable systems make it possible to illuminate the room with several light sources at different, freely selectable points with just a single ceiling and wall outlet. Examples include a kitchen with adjoining dining area, a long hallway or a large living room with several seating and lounging areas.
Cable systems can also be used in architecturally difficult or complex rooms, for example with sloping roofs or many angles and corners.
Apart from that, cable systems are an optically and technically modern lighting method.
Ready-to-install cable systems have a fixed length and a fixed number of luminaires. Both are completely assembled in one package and can be installed immediately. Planning and purchasing accessories is not necessary.
The alignment and positioning of the luminaires along the entire length of the cable offers plenty of scope for flexible use: The individual room situation is maximised.
Most cable systems today rely on LED technology. Either in the form of lights with fixed LED boards - often in combination with a minimalist design - or with standardised sockets. For lampholder variants, the manufacturers sometimes already supply the appropriate LED lamps, e.g. LEDs with GU5.3 / MR16 base for a spot-based system.
LED technology is energy efficient, thus saving electricity and costs, and is long-lasting. This makes the rope system as a whole maintenance-free.
However, it should be noted that LED-based cable systems are not always dimmable. Information on dimmability can be found in the product details of the respective system.
