What is the purpose of illuminated mirrors?

Whether shaving, applying make-up or simply combing hair and brushing teeth: the person in front of the mirror must be well lit so that no shadows appear on the face.

The ceiling light is therefore not sufficient, as the face is always on the side facing away from the light. The solution is separate, direct mirror lighting in the form of wall lights or an illuminated mirror or mirror cabinet, where the light source and mirror are a single furnishing object.

What lighting technology do illuminated bathroom mirrors use?

Illuminated mirrors today generally utilise LED, not only because of its high energy efficiency and the fact that there is no need to replace light sources, but also because this light source can perfectly frame the shape of the mirror - square, round or oval - without additional special light sources.

As people perceive the light on the mirror differently, many high-quality bathroom mirrors are equipped with an integrated dimmer or interface to the smart home. This can be used to change the colour temperature from warm white to daylight and the brightness.

How are illuminated mirrors connected?

Most illuminated mirrors are connected like a wall light via direct connection to the 230 volt power supply.

To ensure that the smaller make-up and shaving mirrors in particular, which are used in addition to a large mirror, can be subsequently adjusted to the perfect position, most models have a joint arm for perfect alignment.

Are there also illuminated mirrors with rechargeable batteries?

Yes, there are illuminated mirrors that can be set up like a table lamp and are operated by battery or rechargeable battery. Standing mirrors with an integrated rechargeable battery can be charged via a mains adapter or USB and, thanks to the low energy consumption of the LEDs, provide up to 14 hours of optimum lighting for grooming.

What unusual mirrors are there?

Bathroom mirrors are an extraordinary highlight in themselves, which look particularly modern and have become standard in upmarket hotels. In addition to a wide variety of shapes and models, there are also some exquisite bathroom mirrors from design houses such as FLOS, e.g. the La Plus Belle by Philippe Starck.
