You have just brought in the tree. It acclimatises to your living room with a fragrant scent. The anticipation of finally decorating it and letting it shine in the most beautiful light is at its peak. For the whole family, especially the little ones, of course. But then comes the disillusionment. The fairy lights that worked so well last year are on strike! If only you had done a light check earlier. Read on to find out how to prevent this from happening to you again.
Your Christmas lights no longer want what you want? Then the time has come to retrofit. When selecting the correct replacement lamp, the socket and wattage must be taken into account. So-called push-in lamps are also frequently used. With these lamps, it is extremely important that the voltage (in volts) and the wattage (in watts) match exactly: A lamp with 0.84W and 7V, for example, cannot be replaced by a lamp with 0.8W and 7V.
Tip: If a conventional light source is to be replaced with an LED lamp, it is worth replacing all focal points**. Our specialist advisors will be happy to give you further advice. Simply click on the link to the contact form below.
As you know, with modern LED technology you no longer have to replace the light sources every so often. They are also available fixed in place - in which case they cannot even be changed. Don't worry, LEDs have such a long service life** that they will be in service for many years or even decades. With modern fairy lights, the light source is increasingly being permanently installed. This also makes very small, stylish designs possible. For you, this means less stress and more intricate Christmas lights.
Do you still have a model at home where the bulb needs replacing - and darn it - the fairy lights are actually on strike? Then there are two options for replacing the bulbs:
The following applies to both variants: Always remember to pull the plug before changing.
It is no different with candle arches than with fairy lights: Here, too, there is now maintenance-free, permanently installed LED technology. You don't need to replace anything at all. If a bulb is due to be replaced and has given up the ghost, you need to check it. Is it a lamp for unscrewing (e.g. with E10 thread) or a lamp for pulling out and inserting (push-in socket). Here, too, it is essential to unplug the appliance before replacing it.
The fact that modern LED technology is almost maintenance-free will convince you. You have become curious about what else speaks in favour of LED. Quite simply:
You don't quite trust it yet and would like to know: Can I also replace LED bulbs in Christmas tree lights and candle arches? It's like this: With new fairy lights with maintenance-free LED technology, it is no longer necessary to replace the LED light source due to its long service life. And that's a good thing. Replacing the conventional lamps of the chains, some of which are permanently installed in the candle arch, was not easy anyway. It's a good thing you won't have to face that again.
According to European law, LEDs and energy-saving lamps are classified as hazardous waste or electronic waste. They are collected separately and taken back, for example, at the local recycling centre. Incandescent lamps, halogen lamps and low-voltage halogen lamps are still disposed of with normal household waste. The only exceptions are halogen lamps with built-in ballast. Further information on the proper disposal of waste electrical and electronic equipment can be found here.
