Søren Ravn Christensen founded Umage after discovering one of his father's lamps by chance in a vintage shop. From then on, his aim was to create equally timeless designs. And so the young Danish company stands for good designs that are current for a long time. Innovations from Umage are about products with completely new dimensions. The Danish design company's aim is to create an accessible brand with flexible products that allow everyone to become their own designer at home.
What does the company name Umage stand for?
The Danish word Umage stands for endeavour. For the effort to give his utmost. Trying something and sticking to it and not taking the path of least resistance. For the claim that we can always do better. Not to be satisfied with mediocrity or standard. Umage stands for devoting yourself to what you are doing and always improving. Umage stands for attention to detail and for being open, leaving your comfort zone and taking risks. Focussing on a goal and doing your best to achieve it.

The Acorn luminaire series by designer Jacob Rudbeck
Designer Jacob Rudbeck is responsible for the well-known Umage luminaire series Acorn. Nature was the model for his creation. He modelled the shape of the luminaire on the fruit of an oak tree. The fact that the light source - ideally filament - can be seen through the transparent glass shade also gives the luminaire a particularly modern look.
