Fritz Hansen presents the noble spirit of Danish design like hardly any other company. The world-famous furnishing brand's range includes breathtaking contemporary creations as well as lovingly selected classics from the history of Danish lighting. Founded in 1872, an exquisite range of lights by renowned designers has been created over the decades, including Jo Hammerborg, Christian Dell, Nicholai Wiig Hansen and Cecilie Manz.
Fritz Hansen lamps are exquisite objects of home decor - in premium quality, certified by a quality document that is enclosed with the shipment. The light sculptures bear witness to masterful craftsmanship and a flair for timeless forms and are characterised not least by their unique lighting effect.
The Dane Jo Hammerborg, born in 1920, created more than 180 lights. For a long time, his lights were only available from antique dealers. Today, various models are being reissued, e.g. the Orient pendant lamp with a handcrafted aluminium shade. It impressively demonstrates its creator's sense of form and aesthetics.
Jo Hammerborg died in 1980 after an eventful life, including as a resistance fighter in the years 1940-45 and as a passionate sportsman.
Born in Offenbach am Main in 1893, Christian Dell ran the metal workshop at the Frankfurt School of Art after completing an apprenticeship as a silversmith and studying at the Saxon School of Arts and Crafts in Weimar, and designed numerous lamps.
His most famous lamp is probably the KAISER idell from 1936. Then as now, the luxury luminaire was a symbol of fine German design, hand-picked materials and precise workmanship.
Christian Dell died in 1974.
Rarely have parents influenced a person as much as Danish designer Nicholai Wiig Hansen. His mother was a ceramicist, his father the world-famous painter and sculptor Svend Wiig Hansen. Art always played a major role in his life.
The Night Owl luminaire is a work by his own design studio and, like other luminaires by the designer, is inspired by the animal world. The luminaire head can be rotated so that the optics and light can be constantly changed.
Born in Denmark in 1972, she began her career in 1992 at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and soon founded her own studio in Copenhagen. There, the designers work on new creations in the traditional way on paper. Lights like the Caravaggio epitomise their desire to combine Scandinavian simplicity with a modern, international expression.
Cecilie Manz has received prestigious awards for her work, which can be admired in collections such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York, including the Thorvald Bindesbøll Medal, the Bruno Mathsson Prize and the Berlin Art Prize.
The story of Fritz Hansen begins in 1872, when carpenter Fritz Hansen was granted a trading licence in Copenhagen. In 1885, he started his own furniture construction company. Even then, it was clear what still characterises the Fritz Hansen brand today: a very high level of quality.

Over the decades, the company has been characterised by great design icons such as Arne Jacobsen and Verner Panton. The lights - although world-famous and true classics of good taste - make up only a small part of the company, which has made history with pieces of furniture such as the church chair by Kaare Klint, the Series 7™ chair and the Egg™ and Swan™ armchairs by Arne Jacobsen.
